Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers to questions our patients ask most often
Does it take strength to pull a tooth?
Absolutely not! Tooth extraction is about technique, knowledge and experience, not physical strength. Dr Ivana is an oral surgery specialist who extracts teeth daily with precision, not force. Modern tools and knowledge do the work, not muscles.
How long does a composite filling last?
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups a composite filling usually lasts about 5 years, often longer. Longevity depends on the filling size, tooth position and chewing habits. We use modern materials and a layered application technique for durability and a natural appearance.
How much does a dental filling actually hurt?
Honestly, most patients say the anticipation was worse than the treatment itself. We use modern anesthesia that completely eliminates pain. Many patients feel absolutely nothing during the procedure. Fear of the dentist is normal, but pain doesn't have to be part of the experience.
Why are implants better than dentures?
Implants behave like real teeth, they're firmly fixed, don't shift, don't require adhesive and don't press on gums. They prevent bone loss that occurs when a tooth is missing. Dentures are a temporary solution, implants are a lasting investment in quality of life.
How often should I visit the dentist?
The recommendation is twice a year for a checkup and professional cleaning. However, if you have gum problems or wear dentures, more frequent visits may be needed. Regular checkups catch problems while they're small and inexpensive to fix.
Do baby teeth need to be treated?
Yes, absolutely! Baby teeth hold space for permanent teeth. If they're lost too early due to cavities, permanent teeth may grow in crooked. Also, untreated cavities in a baby tooth can spread to the developing permanent tooth beneath it.
How much do dental implants cost?
Pricing for implant placement, suprastructure, bone graft material and sinus lift is determined at consultation, since it depends on bone condition and case complexity. You'll get a precise plan and cost estimate after the examination.
What is iTOP and why should I care?
iTOP (Individually Trained Oral Prophylaxis) is a method that teaches you exactly how you should brush your teeth, adapted to your teeth, your gums, your bite. It's not the same for everyone! Both our doctors are certified iTOP instructors who literally guide your hand to show you the right technique.
What can I expect at my first visit?
During your first visit, we thoroughly examine the condition of your teeth, discuss your needs and create a personalized treatment plan with a precise cost estimate. No rush, no pressure, we want you to know exactly what to expect before you make any decisions.
